Following is a list of potential Exchange Sites (Volunteer Sites) for The Incredible Exchange. These sites have participated in past sessions and may or may not be participating in our upcoming session. For a list of the sites requesting volunteers for the current session, please go back to the home page. We have included the site's age requirements in the center column.
4-H PROGRAM14-15 year olds Volunteers will assist with preparations for the St. Louis County Fair at the St. Louis County Extension Office as well as helping with day camps sponsored by 4-H. This is a summer session site. AFTENRO HOME14 and 15 year olds Aftenro is a medical care facility located near UMD. Typical volunteer tasks include helping at picnics, with outdoor walks, helping to deliver mail to residents, visiting or playing games with residents, and work in the gift shop or garden center. Visit the website. ANIMAL ALLIES HUMANE SOCIETY15 year olds Volunteer duties include walking dogs, playing with puppies and assisting staff with grooming animals. Animal Allies Humane Society is now located at 4006 Airport Road. Visit the website. BAYSHORE HEALTH CENTER12-15 year olds This facility is located on Park Point. Volunteer duties may include helping with group activities such as Bingo, music programs or church, and also helping residents individually and visiting with them 1 on 1. Visit the website. BENEDICTINE HEALTH CENTER13-15 year olds Activities include working with nursing home residents and adult day participants. Visit the website. BENEDICTINE HEALTH CENTER EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM13-15 year olds Volunteers with the Early Childhood Program (located at St. Anthony Center) will work with younger children as well as help with snacks and clean toys. CENTRAL LITTLE LEAGUE FIELDS14 and 15 year olds Volunteers are needed to help with working with small children in a t-ball setting, general dugout and field maintenance, and in the concession stand during the summer months. This is a summer session site only. CHESTER BOWL PARK YOUTH PROGRAM12-15 year olds
This program is sponsored by the Chester Bowl Improvement Club. Volunteers assist with the summer recreation program as well as preparing for concerts and special events at Chester Bowl. This is a summer session site only. CHRIS JENSEN HEALTH AND REHABILITATION CENTER14-15 year olds Volunteers assist with activities and special events as well as visiting with and helping residents at Chris Jensen. Visit the website.
CONGDON CREEK PRESCHOOL 12-15 year olds Volunteers will assist teachers with activities, and will spend lots of time outdoors during the summer session. CONGDON SOFTBALL 12-15 year olds Volunteers at the Congdon Softball Fields work at the concession stand, as umpires, and do field maintenance work. This is a summer session site only. THE DULUTH CHILDREN'S MUSEUM14-15 year olds Volunteers plan, prepare and help with programs and activities at the Museum. Visit the website. DULUTH SUPERIOR SAILING ASSOCIATION14-15 year olds
Volunteers assist staff with boat maintenance and assist students with sailing classes and with group sailing. Volunteers must have some prior waterfront or boating experience. This is a summer session site only. Visit the website. EAST HILLSIDE YOUTH THEATRE CAMP14-15 year olds Volunteers assist with theatre craft activities, lead campers in acting games, assist with set construction, props, costume-making, newsletter, and snacks. EDGEWOOD VISTA12-15 year olds
Edgewood Vista is located in Hermantown and his home for seniors in both independent and assisted living situations. Volunteers assist in providing daily opportunities for all residents. Visit the website. FRANCISCAN HEALTH CENTER12-15 year olds Volunteers may deliver mail, play games, read or visit with residents. Volunteers also may help with bulletin board and other decorating. GLENSHEEN GROUNDS GARDENER12-15 year olds

Volunteers assist with guided tours of Glensheen, or may assist with grounds tours or participate in living history tours at the site. Other tasks include office work, or helping in museum shops. Visit the website. GLENSHEEN MUSEUM SHOP14-15 year olds
Volunteers assist at the Glensheen Gift Shop. This is an excellent opportunity to gain some retail experience. This has been a summer session site only. HARTLEY NATURE CENTER13-15 year olds Volunteers assist and support Hartley Nature Center educators with a variety of activities, usually during their summer camps. This is a summer session site only. Visit the website. KIDS’ CAFÉ – DAMIANO CENTER12-15 year olds Volunteers assist with set up of physical space and activities for nutrition program. Duties include assisting with serving and cleaning and engaging younger children in activities and homework help. LAKE PARK LITTLE LEAGUE 13-15 year olds Volunteers will assist with field preparation and park maintenance, help instruct t-ball players, assist with tournaments, and work as a concession stand assistant. This is a summer site only. Visit the website LAKE SUPERIOR & MISSISSIPPI RAILROAD 14-15 year olds Car hosts are needed to accompany tourists and railroad staff aboard the excursion train. Volunteer activities may include: handing out train literature, answering general questions, encouraging safety on board, light cleaning of train cars between rides. This is a summer site only. 14-15 year olds Volunteers can visit with residents and assist them to and from therapy and beauty shop appointments and events, provide mini manicures, water plants in residents rooms, help create bulletin boards. Musicians can provide music (piano, keyboard) during mealtimes and afternoons. Visit the website. LITTLE TREASURES CHILDCARE13-15 year olds Volunteers will help and play with children as well as help with cleaning and set up. MILLER DWAN HOSPITAL 13 1/2 years old and up Volunteers are managed by the SMDC Volunteer Department.. Many areas and departments have a need for youth volunteers - ranging from Gift Shop, Flower Delivery, Health Information Services, Nursing Floor Units, Clerical and Filing, Sterile Processing, Surgical Services, Pharmacy and Nutrition. Visit the website. MORGAN PARK POOL12-15 year olds A volunteer is needed to serve as both as a pool assistant to help during swim lessons and a locker room monitor. A female is preferred for this position. NORTH COUNTRY R.I.D.E14-15 years old R.I.D.E. stands for Rehabilitative Instruction for Disabled Equestrians. The site is located in Esko, a 20-25 minute drive from Duluth. Volunteer activities will include assisting clients on horses as Horse Leaders or Side Walkers; learn how to clean tack; assist clients not on horses with horse related activities. There also may be some clerical work - answering phones, etc. This is a summer session site only. Visit the website. NORTH SHORE SCENIC RAILROAD14-15 years old Volunteers work in the gift shop and ice cream shop. They wait on customers, run the cash register and tell customers a little about the Railroad. This is a summer session site only. Visit the website. NORTON PARK COMMUNITY CENTER 12-15 years old This site is part of the City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Department. Volunteers assist recreation leaders by helping with various activities. This is a summer session site only. PRIMROSE RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES12-15 years old Primrose is a retirement community for independent senior citizens as well as those needing an assisted living arrangment. Volunteers socialize with residents and have an opportunity to share their talents. Primrose is located near Miller Mall. Visit the website. PROGRAMS FOR AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT 13-15 years old Volunteers assist with the Grant School after school programming. Volunteers are needed February-April, so this is a winter session site. ST. ANN’S RESIDENCE12-15 years old Volunteers help with parties, groups, assist residents to get refreshments, help with housekeeping tasks such as organizing video library and other items or supplies, play BINGO, card or board games, do puzzles, assist with arts and crafts, make decorations and decorate the Social Hall. This is a summer session site only. Visit the website. ST. ELIGIUS 12-15 years old This site was formerly known as Lake Haven Manor. Volunteers help with scheduled activities, read out loud to residents, transport residents to and fromactivities, play games, visit one to one with residents. Musicians may provide music for entertainment. View the website. ST. LUKE'S HOSPITAL14 and 15 year olds There are many areas and departments for youth volunteers - ranging from patient mail, flower delivery, departmental mail delivery, patient admitting services, day surgery, gift shop clerk, outdoor clean-up, and escorting family members to surgical areas. ST. MARY'S/DULUTH CLINIC HEALTH SYSTEM13 1/2 years old and up Volunteers may volunteer at either St. Mary's Hospital or Miller Dwan Hospital. Many areas and departments have a need for youth volunteers - ranging from Gift Shop, Flower Delivery, Health Information Services, Garden Café, Nursing Floor Units, Clerical and Filing, Sterile Processing, Surgical Services, Pharmacy and Nutrition. View the website. STOWE NATURE TRAIL13-15 year olds Volunteers work on the maintenance of Stowe Nature Trail. This is a summer session site only. TRAC 7 CABLE ACCESS TV13-15 year olds Volunteers run cameras during Proctor's city meeting broadcasts and also do video editing. Volunteer hours at this site are limited and dependent upon the meeting schedule, so reaching 50 volunteer hours will be a challenge. Visit the website. UMD AQUATICS12-15 year olds Volunteers must meet certain swimming ability prerequisites. They will work cooperatively with the lead instructor to ensure that participants receive a positive, safe learning experience. Volunteers assist in preparing class attendance, monitoring locker rooms during and after lessons, and demonstrating skills. They also assist participants who require individual attention and distribute, collect and store equipment and supplies. Visit the website VALLEY YOUTH CENTER12-15 year olds Volunteers help with general supervision of younger youth (Kindergarten-12th grades); they may do some tutoring or develop and plan youth projects, or assist with the computer lab. Some volunteers write articles for a Youth Newsletter. Visit the website. VIEWCREST HEALTH CENTER12-15 year olds Volunteers assisting in the Activities Program: arts and crafts, music, delivering mail, playing cards, letter writing, assisting with transportation of residents. YMCA DAY CAMP KITCHIGAMI AT CHESTER BOWL PARK13-15 year olds Volunteers assist the YMCA camp counselors in leading camp songs, art projects, field trips to Hartley Nature Center, Park Point and Jay Cooke State Park, nature activities, and games, canoeing, archery, fishing, hiking and outdoor living skills. This is a summer session site only. View the website. YWCA SPIRIT VALLEY CHILDCARE CENTER14-15 year olds Volunteers will help teachers at the site with children and with light housekeeping.
