On our visit to St. Ann's Residence we found Mentor Jan
and Volunteer Amanda preparing for a 100th birthday
party for one of the residents. Amanda helps serve coffee during the birthday party.
Assistance is often needed at special events at
St. Ann's Residence. Volunteers may also visit
or play cards with the residents. Volunteers from The Incredible Exchange Program
work at Glensheen Mansion in a variety of ways.
The gardens and grounds at the mansion need
regular upkeep. Volunteers also may work
as tour guides inside the mansion. Emily helps tourists with their purchases in the
Glensheen Gift Shop. This looks like an interesting
place to spend an afternoon!![]()
Mentor Sheryl works with those who have signed up
to volunteer in the Glensheen gardens. Here she is
pictured alongside Volunteers Brian and Nathan
in the vegetable garden. Brian and Sarah pause for a laugh while keeping
the garden in tip-top shape. Their efforts help
to assure the corn is "knee high by the
4th of July." Courtney and Julia aerate and cultivate the soil in the
Sundial Garden. Cool breezes from
Lake Superior keep the temperatures comfortable
in the garden on most summer days. Lars cleans off the tools once the work in the garden has been completed.
